Overview

Visit one of London’s most famous landmarks and the official residence of His Majesty The King – Buckingham Palace. Serving the Royal family since 1837, Buckingham Palace is used even today for royal events and ceremonies.

During your self-guided tour of Buckingham Palace, you’ll be able to wander through the State Rooms. Admire the gorgeous rooms where the royals entertain their guests on State, ceremonial, and official occasions. There are 19 State Rooms which reflect the taste of George IV who transformed Buckingham House into a grand palace in 1825. Furnished with some of the greatest treasures from the Royal Collection and the finest English and French furniture, gain insight into how the royals live.

Marvel at the grandest room of all – the White Drawing Room. This impressive room serves as a reception room for the King and members of the Royal Family to gather before official occasions. Don’t forget about the spectacular Throne Room where you’ll find an elegant golden arch located above the Chairs of Estate which were used for the coronation ceremony for Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.

Don’t leave without strolling through the beautiful gardens of Buckingham Palace. Home to 30 species of birds, 350 different wildflowers, and an idyllic lake, you’ll have stunning views of the Palace surrounded by nature.

Coronation Display 2023

On your visit, you’ll have the chance to view the special Coronation display which has been included in the 2023 Summer Opening of the State Rooms to celebrate 30 years since the Palace first opened to the public in 1993.

Admire the stunning display holding the outfits, jewellery, and insignia worn by The King and Queen at King Charles’ coronation earlier this year. Alongside this display, you’ll also see the Anointing Screen, Throne Chairs, and designs for the Coronation invitation. In the Palace’s State Entrance portico, you’ll also find the Diamond Jubilee State Coach which took Their Majesties to the Coronation.

Royal Mews

Combine your visit to Buckingham Palace with the Royal Mews for an enhanced experience! The Royal Mews is home to the royal vehicles and is responsible for all road travel arrangements for all members of the Royal Family, whether this be by car or horse-and-carriage.
Visit the Royal Mews to see the elegant State vehicles, some of which you may recognise from coronations, royal weddings, and official engagements. You’ll see the 260-year-old Gold State Coach which has been used for every coronation since 1831 including King Charles III’s coronation in 2023! Admire the magnificent carriages, horses, and livery on this 60-minute experience.
